Friday Random Five

No. 6
Today, I’m taking a break from from moving posts and giving a Friday Random Five. Today’s topic/list is my top 5 favorite foods to eat.

1. Vegetables of any kind (except beets😷)

It’s true! I’m a big fan of veggies. I love them with ranch, hummus(my fav way), by themselves, grilled, roasted, sautéed. You name it and I’ll love it. But I just can’t bring myself to eat beets. Here is the thing. I’ve tried them before. My mom even researched ways to make no beet lovers love them and then cooked them that way. 😷 I tried it. Hated it. Never looked back or thought to tried to eat them again.

2. Salads

If I could have a salad for every meal, I’d be a happy lady! Jake on the other hand.. he says he has got to have some sort of meat at every meal.😉 so when I fix us a salad for supper, I usually put fish or chicken in his bowl.

3. Pasta

I ❤️ carbs so much! I really think I’m part Italian and nobody will tell me it’s true. If I had to pick a restaurant to go to, every single time I’d choose Italian over any other. Speaking of pasta, I’ve been thinking of finding ways to healthier lighter versions. Any ideas that could help me?!

4. Lays potato chips

Poor Jake. Every single time he buys potato chips they are gone by the next morning. They truly are my weakness. And every time I try to do better and make them last longer but I just can’t. 😔 maybe one day.

5. Cheesecake

I love cheesecake so much that I have taught myself how to make it and perfected it. And I’m not talking about that quick no bake way. I’m talking it takes a day and a half to make it. I love making them the old fashion way. And I love making new versions and flavors out of them!

So what are some of your favorite foods? Tell me in the comments. I can’t wait to find out!

Friday Random Five

No. 5
The next few weeks I’m going to spend time letting you get to know me. I really feel like I’ve been slacking in connecting and opening up about who I really am. And I feel like it would help you understand me and what I write about if I spend a little bit of time sharing more about me, and my background, that led to the person I am today. 😊

So today I’m going to start by doing 20 facts about me, instead of just five.

1. My parents got my first name from a church hymn.

2. I am was the only redhead for 19 years, until my parents adopted my only brother.

3. I have two younger sisters and a younger brother. (Yes, I am the oldest and only one currently married.)

4. I love to travel and been to half of the east side of the country and 3 other countries. Peru, Ecuador, and South Africa (Peru, I have been to several times.)

5. I went to school to be a deaf education teacher but God had other plans and now I am a banker. My mother was a banker, so I guess you could say I’m following her footsteps.

6. I love fashion.

7. I knew what I wanted my wedding cake to look like when I was 12 years old. So my entire wedding was planned around the cake.

8. My father entered the ministry and became a pastor when I was in middle school.

9. I am not a fan of R&B music from the 80s or earlier. My parents used to make listen to it to punish me when we were on road trips, if I got in trouble, because they knew how much I didn’t like it. It is torture for me.

10. I love all things Shania Twain. She tops all of my favorite singers.

11. I am not an animal person, AT ALL. But, my husband has a bloodhound.

12. My radio stays on K-LOVE 24/7. It only gets turned to a different station when Jake and I go to our parents and it is then country music.

13. I pay attention to details. Sometimes I feel like it’s pretty bad and other people think I stalk them. If that’s you, I’m sorry. I really don’t stalk you. I pay attention and remember random things.

14. My dream to own a candy and pie store.

15. I love to bake and cook casseroles but when it comes to cooking regular meals, I’m not anywhere close to a pro.

16. I went to the University of Southern Mississippi.

17. I’m a huge planner and goal setter. My husband and family is the total opposite.

18. I love sharing my testimony and what God can do in your life.

19. I love blogging and hope I touch at least one person’s life by sharing what God is doing through me.

20. I can’t wait to share more with you and let you get to know me on a better level.

Friday Random Five

No. 4

  1. I’m not sure if it is just because I’m in a festive spirit, the weather is changing, or I’m looking forward to celebrating holidays. But I am so ready for Halloween on Monday. Last year I wanted to start a Halloween tradition of Halloween themed suppers. I made eyeball and brains (spaghetti) for that night with pumpkin shaped, chocolate covered pretzels for dessert. This year I’m thinking about a pumpkin graveyard cake, for dessert, but I’m stumped still as to what I should make for our actual supper. Any ideas?
  2. Random fact: I love smores and I am SUPER EXCITED that smore and campfire weather is finally here! I am all about cuddling up in blankets, eating tons of smores, and looking at the stars. I know, I’m a typical girl. And using a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup instead of a Hershey’s bar, if the only way to make a perfect smore! 😉
  3. I don’t know about y’all but I love me some Madea movies. If you haven’t seen them, GO WATCH THEM. They are hilarious and honest when it comes to talking about real family issues. BOO! A Madea Halloween came out last weekend. Jake and I went to see it with my family, during a weekend visit, and all of left laughing and still are talking about how good it was. And we enjoyed it so much that Jake and I are going to see it tomorrow night with a friend. Warning though! It does have a little bit of language in this one, so I would recommend leaving the children at home.
  4. Another fact about me: I love love love LOVE cheesecake and would choose that over any cake you offered me.
  5. I am so thankful for cooler weather in this hot Mississippi delta. We are finally out of the 90 temps and finally in the mid to low 80s. Hallelujah!

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”  Genesis 8:22

Friday Random Five

NO. 3

I’ve dedicated this Friday’s Random Five to setting some new goals for April.

April Goals:

  1. I have a hard time dealing feeling overwhelmed with a lot of STUFF surrounding me. So to fix this problem to relieve stress, and make coming home more relaxing, I’m going to try to rid my entire house of unneeded stuff.
  2. Make healthier choices when it comes to meals. I’ve been really slacking in this area and want to better choices to take care of my body.
  3. find some sort of workout routine, even if it’s 15 minutes a day
  4. start a routine of going  throughout the house for 5 minutes and clean up any small stuff I can take care of before I leave, instead of waiting and overloading my cleaning after work or on weekends.
  5. come up with a blogging schedule and make it more apart of my life. I love this space and want to utilize it more often.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Friday Random Five

No. 2

  1. I’m so excited about starting a short devotional and learning about how to be a Titus 2 woman. I searched all over the internet to find an online devotional for young married women and this was one of the best I found. (This little town of Greenville doesn’t have but one small christian book store, so I’m limited in resources. 😦 )
  2. Jake and I are spending the entire lent season (we are baptists and no we do not practice lent, this is just what I am doing for my personal self) working out at the gym and starting a new healthier lifestyle. We planned a couple days in August to go the beach, as an anniversary gift to each other. (Yes, it is a few months after our anniversary.) Jake has decided to use this as his motivation. I’ve been trying hard over the last couple months to get him to workout with me and I’m so excited he finally is! We have been doing very well over the last 2 weeks. Hopefully we can keep this up!
  3. This weekend I plan on going through clothes and shoes and donating what we get rid to salvation army.
  4. I’m loving this spring-ish weather we have been having this week and hoping, if it stays this way this weekend, to play outside with our dog some and deep clean our house with the windows opened. There is just something about warm weather that puts me in a major cleaning mode.
  5. This weekend I’m hoping to come up with at least three new healthy meals to try. If I do, and my husband approves it is a repeat worthy meal, I will post the recipe here next week.

Friday Random Five

Oh my goodness, I’ve been away from this space way too long! But I have a plan to try to keep me more consistent in writing here. 😉 I’ve decided to start a Friday series. My plan is to start doing them once a month, at least. Hopefully twice a month!

I’ve called it Friday Random Five because I will either share five random things about me to help you get to know me a little better. Or I will share five random things I’m thinking about or going on in my life. Hopefully this will help you get to know me on a more personal level and we can try to have a little bit of fun with it!

Today’s Five facts about me:

  1. I love to travel and I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that I was called to do short term mission trips and love learning about other cultures. (My husband is not so much a traveler though. The guy is really scared of flying. Hopefully I will get this to change, one day)
  2. I have a weird thing about me. I do not, and I mean DO NOT, like touching peoples feet. Including my own. I don’t know why but I don’t. It just really grosses me out.
  3. My favorite flowers, in the following order, are calli lilly, tulips, daisies.
  4. My favorite season is Spring.
  5. I love numbers are everything math related. (Its probably why I love my job in banking!)

There you have it! If you’d like to know anything random about me, or have any questions you’d like me to answer in my next Friday Random Five, leave your questions in the comments and I’ll try to answer them in my next Friday posts.

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.  Isaiah 12:3
